Elizabeth Okonkwo was attacked by some unknown men in her apartment at her residence, No 27 Onikoyi street Majidun Ikorodu Lagos State and later died on the 9th september 2019 at Queen Queens specialist hospital Alausa Lagos, after she was attacked around 7:30pm. Her neighbours discovered her laying in the pool of blood shortly after they heard her scream in a loud voice.

Elizabeth was believed to be the only daughter of her parent, who came to Lagos by her uncle to work. She apparently worked with ICKY Salvage Standard Concept in Lagos before the time of her murder. It was gathered that she lived in the said apartment with her friend Akindele Toyin who travel shortly before the attack and at the time of this report Toyin as not been in sight.

One Mrs Onikoyi who spoke to our correspondent said, on the day of the attack, Elizabeth just got back from work not long before they started hearing her scream from her apartment. She added, they heard similar scream from her apartment some few month ago, but this particular time the scream was so loud that it calls the attention of the whole neighbours. She stated that when they heard her scream that loud everyone was scared and at the same time wondering what could had happened to her and in a short while when they stop hearing her voice they all came out to check on her. She also stated that “we called her from outside but she was not responding so we had to open her door but it was an eye-sore, she was in the pool of her blood, she could hardly speak, she was stabbed severally, so we quickly rush her to the nearest hospital”.

According to another eye witnesses, they said the little time she was able to say something she kept saying they should help her inform her roommate Akindele Toyin not to come home that it was also dangerous for her too. But she could not give the details of what happened or who attacked her before she gave up the ghost. She has lost so much blood before they could take her to the hospital. Her death was still a shock to everyone in the environment as it was a total strange situation to the neighbourhood, everyone was left with the question of what they might had done to the attackers . Some speculation going around suggested that Elizabeth and her roommate Akindele Toyin were lesbians and that might be a reason for the attack.

We have not been able to reach Toyin at the time of this report, she has not return from her trip and with the warning Elizabeth left before her death, it was not certain she will be coming around anytime soon.
