Some political stakeholders in the southeast have set an agenda for the former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, governor-elect of Anambra.

Tribunepoint Weekly recalls that Soludo, the candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), was declared winner of the November 6 gubernatorial election by the INEC Returning Officer, Professor Florence Obi.

INEC on Friday presented the Certificate of Return to the governor-elect in Awka, the state capital.

Speaking on the outcome of the recently held gubernatorial election in the state, on Saturday, the member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South Federal Constituency of Abia State at the House of Representatives, Hon Sam Ifeanyichukwu Onuigbo, said that the emergence of Soludo was as a proof that the people of Anambra state still recognize excellence and are willing to enthrone it.

Onuigbo also insisted that Soludo’s victory at the just concluded Anambra state gubernatorial election was obvious proof that true democracy as the lawmaker urged the governor-elect to against all odds, endeavour to deliver maximally the dividends of democracy to the state.

In a statement on Saturday, in Umuahia, the Abia State capital, Saturday, Rep Onuigbo, felicitated with Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo on his resounding victory at the recently held polls and applauded the Anambra electorates for choosing excellence, massively voting for the governor-elect, and at the same time, ensuring that their votes counted.

He further used the medium to appeal to the people of Anambra to give their unalloyed support to Soludo to enable him to drive the state to greater heights.

Onuigbo, who is popularly known in the political circle as Odozi Obodo, however, expressed optimism in the credibility of the Anambra governor-elect implored him to work assiduously towards ensuring the betterment of the state within his stay in office.

He called on Soludo not to disappoint the confidence reposed in him by the electorate but work for the development of the state and enhance the welfare of the people of the state through productive policies and programmes.

His words, “To whom much is given, much is also expected. I want you to remember that the people of Anambra State who have given their votes to you without batting an eye expect deserving good governance in return.

“I am confident that with your wealth of knowledge which you have garnered from your days in service as the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, your administration shall never leave the state at the same level wherein you met it.

“I know that you have the capacity to manage effectively the economy of the state and I pray God Almighty to grant you the wisdom of King Solomon so that your administration shall leave a mark in the sands of time Congratulations, Professor Soludo, on your victory”.

On her part, Dame Virgy Etiaba, former Governor of Anambra State, has urged the governor-elect, Soludo, to build on the successes of his predecessors and justify the enormous confidence the people have reposed on you.

The admonition was contained in a release signed by the ex-Deputy of the Anambra and issued on Saturday.

Etiaba said in her statement on Saturday, “I look forward to a new Anambra state with you not only to develop the State and foster closer relations between our citizens but also to concert our efforts in the cause of peace and the brotherhood of all people”.

She however congratulated Soludo on his victory at the just concluded gubernatorial election held in the state by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The ex-Governor, however, wished the governor-elect success as he prepares to take up the responsibilities and the challenges of his high office.

According to Etiaba, who also was a former Deputy Governor of Anambra State, “To Almighty God be all the glory and adoration for the outcome of this unique election of last Saturday.

“Our very dear Anambra State seems set for further successes as you assume the mantle of leadership in just a few weeks”.

Similarly, the former governorship aspirant and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Dr. Chike Obidigbo, has lauded the peaceful conduct of the Anambra state gubernatorial election.

Obidigbo, in a statement on Friday, congratulated Soludo for coming out victorious as the choice of the people for the top job at the Government House in Awka.

“I was much concerned about the election in Anambra State for two reasons. First is about a peaceful free, fair and credible election. Second is how to get the best out of the candidates that were in the race.

“With the peaceful conduct of the election and Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, a world-class economist and former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN); emerging the winner of the election, I believe that God answered my prayer.

“For me, Soludo is okay for the job. So my prayer is that God will continue to guide and protect him grant him the wisdom and strength to lead the Light of the Nation-State to enviable height”.
